Executive TL;DR:

  • DeepSeek introduces Vision, a feature that allows the platform to understand images.
  • Vision enables DeepSeek to describe what’s in a picture, but it’s not an image generation system.
  • Users are eager to see Vision integrated into the DeepSeek API for various applications.

The Buzz Score

The Internet’s Verdict: 70% Hyped, 30% Skeptical

Community Reaction

Users are discussing the new feature on the DeepSeek forum, with some expressing excitement and others seeking more information.

For those not trying, this allows Deepseek to understand a picture (instead of just extracting text from it), and it can describe what’s in the picture, but this is not an image generation system, so you can’t ask it to modify an image.

Others are looking for more technical details about the feature and its capabilities.

I wish they published a post where we read about capabilities, quality, accuracy and other parameters

API Integration

Some users are eager to see Vision integrated into the DeepSeek API, which would enable new applications and use cases.

I really need this as an API. Turns out, to use Claude Agents SDK, you need to have a vision enabled API. If Deepseek API could see, it can fully drive Claude Code and Claude Agents SDK.
